SCU Alumni Chorus Achieve Big Success with Soothing Voice

Applause and cheers for encores filled up Zhongshan Hall on the night of November 1st as SCU Alumni Chorus perfectly entertained a full house of distinguished guests and audience with its 2016 annual concert.

In its fifth yearly event since its establishment in 2011, the Chorus presented a wide variety of music, including gospel songs, breathtaking works by John Rutter and Ko Matsushita, adapted pop song combo by alumni Patrick Liu and Tien-Hao Jan, familiar melodies such as Meditation and Nanping Curfew, and songs made by master songwriter Chia-Chang Liu and pop star Jay Chou. SCU President Wei-Ta Pan, Vice-President Wei-Liang Chao, Former Acting President Jin-Chuan Lin, Honorary Director of Alumni Association Song-Zhang Tang, and other SCU chief staff and alumni all enjoyed these songs of both old and modern times and full of love and joy.

Another highlight of the concert was the SCU String Chorus, which was officially formed in 2016 with 49 senior staff and alumni including Former Minister of Finance Sheng-Ford Chang, the distinguished alumni Zhang-An Hung, Jia-Nan Fang and Hui-Gui Chen, Former Acting President Jun-Mei Ma, professor Yi-Qun Lui of the Office of Physical Education, professor Yan Tan, Chief Secretary and Dean of the Office of Social Resource Shu-Fang Wang.

Wang, who took the position of the Dean of Office of Social Resource on November 1st in addition to Chief Secretary, promised that she will do her utmost to maintain the relationship among alumni, keep providing excellent service, and expand the application and integration of extramural and intramural resources. She also hoped for alumni’s support and advices.
