Department of Accounting in Soochow University (SCU) broke its own record as the results of national accountant exam came out early November, 2016. In addition to the high passing rate, the Department’s new graduate Yu-Jung Chen passed all the seven subjects in the exam in one time.

This year, 85 students or graduates of the Accounting Department obtained their accountant qualifications, accounting for 16 percent of a total of 533 that passed the exam. As most accounting majors would choose to work in accounting firms after graduation, the Accountant’s license has become a must. According to previous statistics, SCU graduates from the Accounting Department roughly took up 10% of those who passed the exam. This year the Department a record-breaking 85 people who passed and 16% passing rate in the department’s history. Moreover, Yu-Jung Chen, who just graduated in June 2016, passed all the seven subjects in the exam in one time. Such an achievement was very rare because test-takers only need to pass all seven subjects in four years instead of in one year due to the changes to the exam in 2001.

Students of the Accounting Department have been making history in each year’s exam. Both alumni and professors of the Department showed their joy and pride over these records, and hoped more stellar results may follow in the years to come.
