The 2016 Soochow University International Ultra-Marathon has come to an end in the morning of December 4th, 2016. Participating for the third time, Zhoa, Zi-Yu, from China, came in first and led all mael runners with the distance of 236.990 kilometers. After winning first place in the 2015 Ultra-Trail Gobi Race and second place in the 2015 Soochow University Ultra-Marathon, he brought another trophy home this year.

The only thing Zhoa, Zi-Yu concerned about during the race was setting a steady pace and try not to compete with other runners. On supplement, Zhoa, Zi Yu came out with a supplying plan with the student volunteer who was in charge of giving out supplements to get adequate supplies during the run. Additionally, he gave special thanks to every volunteer who cheered for him and helped him to win the title.

During the post-game press conference, Zhoa, Zi-Yu said that although he won the title, the whole run was not an easy task. Upon reaching 220 kilometers, his old injuries started to hurt his thigh, affecting the pace he set for himself. All he could do was to stretch once in a while keep running.

On the closing ceremony, Zhoa, Zi-Yu announced that winning first place is not only the greatest honor he had ever gotten, but a spectacular experience he could brign back to China and help develop ultra-marathons there. He also praised Soochow University for becoming a great example that China’s ultra-marathon founders can look up to and hoped that the ultra-marathons in China can grow stronger with examples such as Soochow University. Zhoa, Zi-Yu promised to return to Soochow University for the ultra-marathon in 2017 to gain more experiences.
