Celestial Voices of Vox Nativa Children’s Choir on SCU Campus

Vox Nativa Children’s Choir Taiwan brought celestial voices to Soochow University (SCU) in a “concert without conductor” following their five-day recording at Songyi Hall in the evening of 9 February 2018.

Wei-Ta Pan, President of SCU, Vice President Bau-Tscheng Dung, Secretary General and Dean of Social Resources Shu-fang Wang, Dean of General Affairs Jinshyang Roan, Shiow-Duan Hawang, Dean of School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Gwang-Lin Peng, Chair of Music Department, and Li-Yu Shyu, Chair of Psychology Department and many other executives were present at the musical event. As honorary leader of Vox Nativa Children’s Choir Taiwan, former first lady Mei-Ching Chow was also present to show her support.

The most impressive program included well-known songs such as “You raise me up,” “My Grandma’s Penghu Bay”, and “Ali Mountain Girl.” Among them the “Cupla Cups” was literally performed with cups, together with vocal performances of Ibu.Takiludun , and “The Very Thought of You”by Vox Nativa Acapella had the audience charmed and moved along with the music. The concert was brought to a perfect ending with “kipahpah ima”by the whole choir including graduates from Vox Nativa Music School of Taiwan, Vox Nativa Percussion Group, and Vox Nativa Acapella.

SCU alumnus Tiao-Ting Chen of Math Department 1976, a long-term contributor and supporter, brought the Choir to SCU campus, while President Pan expressed hope that they would one day study at SCU. The children of Vox Nativa Music School enjoyed buffet meal and received gifts of lucky bags and red envelopes for the upcoming lunar New Year.
