More than 900 diners, including Soochow’s faculty, staff, the president of the alumni association Frank Liu, 12 chair professors, and outstanding alumni who were newly elected as public servants, enjoyed the 2018 year-end dinner on January 14th, 2019 at Banquet 88. Under the arrangement by Library, School of Extension Education, Office of Physical Education, and Chaplain’s Office, all the faculty and staff spent a self-amusing night.
Hilarious show programs during the banquet consisted of creative dance drama acted by the four heads of the organizing units, lyrics challenge hosted by the director of School of Extension Education Ji-Jheng Wu, who dressed himself as the famous goofy Japanese entertainer PIKO TARO, and the funny group dance of “I will follow Him” performed by the staff of Chaplain’s Office, and many more.
To commemorate the late martial arts novelist and SCU’s honorable alumnus Louis Leung-Yung Cha, or more widely known as Jin Yong, a suite of theme songs of his most popular movies was sung by the chair Zheng-Dao Zhong, Professor Hui-Ru Shen and Professor Jing-Guo Xie of the Department of Chinese Literature.
