Soochow, Goodnews Radio Collaborate to Broadcast Beauty of Shihlin

Inspired by the University Social Responsibility (USR) project “Reincarnation: The Reappearance of the Past Century’s Brilliance of Shilin” presented by SU’s School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences in December 2021, the director of Goodnews Radio Sih-Yu Lyu and host Hui-Mei Tu have invited Soochow’s USR team to produce a 13-episode broadcast program titled “Recreating the Glory of Shilin,” particularly focusing on features of Shilin District.

The USR project led by Dean of School of Liberal Arts and Social Science Shiou-Duan Hawang connected students with Shilin area from five aspects including local temples, military villages, ecology, food, and education. Through “Recreating the Glory of Shilin,” audiences will embark on a time voyage into the history and intriguing stories of vintage buildings, military villages, and famous residences.

Also invited to the broadcast program for exclusive interviews are Deputy GM Chien-Wei Kuo, the fifth generation of the family business Kuo Yuan Ye, and Principal of Shilin elementary school Ming-Yu Wu, joined by principals of Bai Ling High School, Shilin High School of Commerce, Yang Ming Senior High School, Wesley Girls’ High School, Taibei High School, etc.

“Recreating the Glory of Shilin” reminds its audience of the importance of the preservation of Shilin cultural heritages, and hopes to create more emotional attachments between citizens of Shilin and the local area. The broadcast series discuss the social responsibility of universities, history, religions, and professionalism of Shilin, as well as the historic trails and the 2022 Taipei Lantern Festival in Shilin.

The 13-episode program is broadcast every Wednesday at 5 p.m., starting January 5th. Students and faculty are welcome to enjoy this special series produced by SU and Goodnews Radio. They may also join the Facebook group and share their most precious memories for a chance to win an iPhone 13.
