SU Student Volunteers from 11 winter service teams were recognized and presented with the school flags in a joint closing ceremony on March 19th, 2022, in Waishuanghsi campus. Although most of them were unable to provide volunteer services due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they exchanged thoughts and recalled their preparation process with each other.

While this year’s theme and message is “Dream Hard,” to serve as volunteers had become “the hardest dream” for the students as they encountered up to three interruptions of their services. However, these student volunteers still hoped to share the passion for helping others and pass down experiences through words, videos, or even sign language.

After presenting the flags to each service team, Dean of Student Affairs Kuen-Chang Lee gave praise to all the volunteers for their commitment to serving other people, and noted that the perspiration during the preparation is priceless, encouraging everyone to keep up the spirit and embrace all challenges in the future.

Pei-Ru Liu, a former staff of Moral and Civil Education Center, was also invited to give a speech in a topic “The Transformation of Volunteer Service Teams in the Pandemic Era.” She suggested some newer approaches such as providing online services, planning activities more flexibly, and sending smaller teams with fewer members.

The 11 winter service teams included Spring Day of Social Service Team, CY Family Service Team, Guitar Club Music Service Team, Fundamental Legal Education Service Team, Yenfei Camp of the Department of Social Work, etc.
