Soochow outstanding alumna Eugenia Bai (Class of 1975, Department of Economics), also known as Eugenia Henry (Henry as her married name), received the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award of 2022 from U.S. President Joe Biden.
Inspired by her diligent father, self-disciplined Bai endeavored to study and earn scholarships to relieve her family’s financial burden during her college life in SU.
Bai gained her Master’s degree of Statistics at University of Arkansas in 1980 and obtained her PhD of Biostatistics at University of Missouri in 1987 before establishing two biotech consulting corporations in the U.S. in 1998 and in 2011 respectively, plus a branch company of the latter in Taiwan in 2015.
Always keeping her homeland in mind, Bai has dedicated herself to promoting Mandarin learning and Chinese cultures when serving for Chinese Language School of Baltimore and has spoken for Taiwan to join the WHA and WHO.
Throughout her successful career, Bai was granted numerous awards, including a community contribution award presented by Governor of Maryland Larry Hogan in 2019.
