On June 11th, 2022, nearly 3,900 Soochow students who have earned their doctoral, master’s, and bachelor's degrees celebrated their graduation at the online commencement as the Olympics gold medalists of men’s doubles badminton Chi-Lin Wang and Yang Lee showed up in the video to see graduates off with warm congratulations.

SU President Wei-Ta Pan gave a commencement speech at the ceremony, encouraging students to apply what they have learned in school, keep abreast of trends, and strive to become cross-disciplinary talents in the future. He also reminded the graduates to seize opportunities and be brave enough to pursue their dreams in the pandemic era.

Frank Liu, President of SU Alumni Association urged graduates to live their life to the fullest by following SU’s motto “Unto a full-grown man;” that is, “Nourish the spirit of universal truth and emulate the perfect man of the ages.”

Hung-Wei Chien, a representative of graduates from the School of Law who was selected as an honorary member of Phi Tau Phi Scholastic Honor Society, expressed his gratitude to the faculty of Soochow for providing both solid theoretical foundations and practical experiences, which allowed him to acquire and apply knowledge and skills.

Even though not graduating from a department that is considered "promising," Wei Lin, a graduate of the Chinese Literature Department who had a double major in Philosophy, shared that SU provides training that helped her to think critically and creatively, and advised that graduates reminisce their college days in Soochow to get over frustration they would encounter in the workplace.
