Jointly hosted by the Center for Global Sustainable Application of Confucianism and Daoism and the General Education Center of SU, Chinese Association of Confucius, and the Chinese Wu-ching-ting Cultural Society, the commemorative exhibition of Confucius heirlooms was unveiled on March 2nd at Soochow’s Arts Center in Downtown campus, and will last till March 28th.
Attending the grand opening were nearly one hundred distinguished guests, teachers and students, including Tsui-Chang Kung, who is the priest of Chinese Association of Confucius and the 79th generation of Confucius’ offspring, Fedrick Fu Chien, President of Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange, and Otto Chui-Chau Lin, former President of Industrial Technology Research Institute.
Other participants included Shu Chen, Chairman of Zhong Dao Association of Leadership and Culture, Sui-Ping Huang, Executive Secretary of Taipei Confucius Temple, I-Kun Hsiao, Chairman of Confucianism and Taoism Academic China, Soochow’s Vice President Chyan-Long Jan, and Dean of School of Business Jin-Shyang Roan.
Following Kung’s opening remarks, SU Vice President Jan indicated that Soochow has inherited the wisdom of Confucianism and attached great importance to education in the humanities. Ke-Ming Li, the founder of Soochow’s Center for Global Sustainable Application of Confucianism and Daoism, also encouraged people to visit the exhibition.
Yu-Ling Tang, the founder of the Chinese Wu-ching-ting Cultural Society, introduced to the guests the cultural and family relics of Confucius, such as the Painting of the Sacred Saga of Confucius and other precious photos and calligraphy scrolls.
Additionally, the Chinese Wu-ching-ting Cultural Society also cooperated with Central Wonder, an online educational service, in training SU students to be the “guides/ambassadors” who introduced the cultural relics and historic photos to visitors.
